There have been significant achievements dotting the years of The Legacy. The overwhelming loyalty and generosity of The Legacy Family has given us the opportunity to make consequential contributions to San Diego beneficiaries for many years.
The cardinal moment in the history of The Legacy occurred in 2001 with the presentation of the inaugural event. A singular leaf that sprung through the turf at The Farms at the birth of The Legacy has grown to a majestic Legacy Family tree.
The first Legacy is played at The Farms Golf Club setting in motion an effort that has become an iconic San Diego event
The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is the initial, and annual, beneficiary of The Legacy. Since 2001 more than $2.9 million has been donated to the unrelenting effort of CCF
The Legacy crosses the $1 million mark in donations
The Legacy begins a long-lasting relationship with Pro Kids. Conceived by original San Diego Charger, Ernie Wright, The Legacy continues to support Pro Kids each year having contributed $1.02 million to the irreplaceable mission at Pro Kids
Supporting the Lymphoma Research Foundation The Legacy reaches $2 million in contributions to our community
The Legacy celebrates a decade of philanthropy, springing over the $3 million hurdle in giving
Honoring the San Diego Chapter of The Huntington’s Disease Society, the $4 million threshold is crossed
Sadly, Coach Jim Sochor, Rolf’s UC Davis Football Coach passes away. He was a dear friend and valuable mentor to Rolf and Mary. Rolf would bring him to The Legacy for a number of years and The Legacy Family was blessed to get to know this humble, stately, true gentleman

Legacy Responds at the Farms - The unfortunate postponement of the 20th Anniversary of The Legacy due to the Covid-19 virus inspired the Legacy Responds initiative. The Legacy Family responded in a big way. The generosity of many provided the opportunity to make valuable contributions to beneficiaries
The 20th Anniversary of The Legacy is celebrated. For the first time The Legacy Gala Dinner is held on Saturday evening. The spectacular venue at the San Diego Zoo provides a perfect backdrop to The Legacy's support for the San Diego Zoo Alliance and its valuable, global initiatives focused on wildlife and habitat conservation. Contributions to deserving beneficiaries now approach $7.5 million.
The unwavering generosity of The Legacy Family supported the NCRC THRIVE initiative, bringing The Legacy impact on the community beyond $9 million.
The Legacy Family remembers and honors Mr. Richard C Helmstetter throughout the 24th Legacy. Mr. Helmstetter was a dear friend to us all. His valuable experience, advice, and guidance led the way at the birth of The Legacy at The Farms in 2001. His impact on the formative years and unyielding generosity would influence the past, present, and future of The Legacy. Mr. Helmstetter was 82.
