When Computers 2 Kids received the $100,000 gift from the Legacy Foundation in 2011, it came at a time when C2K was trying to expand to meet the needs of the community. The gift was a vital factor in C2K’s expansion from a 1,975 square foot facility into the 9,400 square foot facility we occupy today. This enabled us to grow from serving 13,000 people a year to more than 45,000 people annually. With school closures during the COVID – 19 Pandemic, C2K received an additional $10,000 donation from the Legacy Foundation in support of our efforts to provide up to 20,000 computers to students now schooling at home. This gift assisted C2K in hiring twelve additional staff members, working six days a week, ten-hour days to meet the growing demand for computers in today’s educational climate.
The impact of Computers 2 Kids SD continues to be recognized throughout the San Diego community and beyond. As with all successful endeavors, the leadership of those who have a vision and inspire their team to new heights is at the heartbeat of that success. In that vein, C2KSD is proud to announce the San Diego Business Journal has honored C2KSD CEO, Cheri Pierre, as the Non-Profit CEO of the Year for 2021. The priceless impact that C2KSD has had on San Diego and other comminites during the months and months of Covid-19 restrictions is immeasureable.
