The support that we received from The Legacy Foundation over the years has truly transformed into a life-long partnership as we continue to get to know the thoughtful, giving, and courageous community members that the foundation is made up of. The Legacy Foundation helped lay the groundwork for Padres Pedal the Cause to expand in 2021 to a year around fundraising non-profit called Curebound. Curebound unites two highly respected cancer organizations, Padres Pedal the Cause and the Immunotherapy Foundation, both of which were founded by families whose lives were changed by cancer. Many people do not realize that cancer is the #1 cause of death in San Diego and the #2 cause of death in the United States. The Legacy Foundation has helped to share these statistics and with their dedication we continue to reach fundraising milestones. In 2019, we raised over $3.1M, 100% going directly to cancer research. This would not have been possible without the generous gift of $250,000 from The Legacy Foundation and the outpouring of support shown by the community members at the Legacy Golf Invitational. In 2022, Padres Pedal the Cause broke that fundraising record with over $3.2M raised due to the community involvement of teams like The Legacy Foundation. Additionally, Curebound’s Concert for Cures at the Rady Shell, featuring Alicia Keys and The San Diego Symphony, raised over 3.1 million for cancer research.
Curebound is committed to investing $100 million into collaborative cancer research in San Diego to make the vision of cures in our lifetime a reality. We are most inspired by the continued engagement and interest The Legacy Foundation has shown through its support for Padres Pedal the Cause.
